Position: Technician

Department: Extrusion Blow Moulding Operation

Reporting to: Engineering Manager

Shifts: 4 on 4 off (2 days, 2 nights) | Day Shift: 7 AM - 7 PM | Night Shift: 7 PM - 7 AM

Salary: £39,000+ (Salary negotiable depending on experience)

Objective: Nexus Packaging Limited manufacture HDPE (plastic) containers for chemicals. To assist the engineers in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of all equipment and machinery during assigned shifts at Nexus Packaging Ltd's new extrusion blow moulding operation. The Technician will be responsible for assisting the engineer and leading in their absence when it comes to troubleshooting, quick response to breakdowns, and maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency in the production of chemical containers / bottles. Opportunity for extra training and qualifications will be available throughout the technician's time at Nexus.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Equipment and Machinery Management: Monitor the performance of all machinery and equipment on the production floor, ensuring they operate at optimal efficiency by making mechanical alterations and also altering process parameters. Assist in regular checks and routine maintenance to prevent breakdowns and prolong the lifespan of equipment.
  • Troubleshooting and Repairs: Quickly diagnose and resolve any technical issues or malfunctions that occur during the shift. Carry out repairs and adjustments to machinery and equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Technical Support and Guidance: Assist in training operators on the correct usage and basic maintenance of equipment.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that production meets the required quality standards. Identify any technical factors that may affect product quality.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure that all activities and operations comply with health and safety regulations. Promote a culture of safety, ensuring that all safety protocols are followed by the team.
  • Communication and Coordination: Communicate effectively with the staff and other shift engineers to ensure a smooth transition between shifts.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for improving equipment performance and reliability. Suggest and implement improvements to maintenance procedures and production processes.
  • Emergency Response: Be prepared to respond to emergencies and unexpected breakdowns, implementing quick and effective solutions to minimize impact on production.
  • Resource Management: Ensure that all necessary tools, parts, and supplies are available and in good condition for maintenance and repair tasks.
