About Nexus
Nexus is a Northern Ireland wide charity providing services in supporting victims and survivors of sexual abuse and abusive relationships. Every year in Northern Ireland there are thousands of sexual offences reported to PSNI, and thousands more that go unreported. Without specialist support, victims of these crimes will find it even harder to deal with the trauma they experience.
Purpose of the Role
The Education Officer will lead on the design, delivery, and development of education and prevention activity under the Strategic Framework to End Violence Against Women and Girls led by The Executive Office (TEO) in Northern Ireland. The postholder will contribute directly to the strategy's prevention priority, supporting cultural and attitudinal change by delivering high-quality, trauma-informed education programmes.
Key Responsibilities
- Education & Prevention Delivery: Design, deliver and adapt educational workshops, training sessions and awareness programmes aligned with the EVAWG Strategic Framework and Delivery Plan priorities, particularly prevention and early intervention.
- Programme Development: Contribute to the development of evidence-based training, session plans and learning resources aligned with TEO EVAWG outcomes.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain positive working relationships with schools, youth services, community and voluntary organisations, statutory partners, corporate partners and funders.
- Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting: Collect and analyse monitoring and evaluation data to demonstrate impact against EVAWG prevention outcomes.
- Safeguarding & Professional Practice: Maintain high standards of safeguarding, confidentiality and ethical practice at all times.
General Responsibilities
- Promote equality, diversity and inclusion in all aspects of work.
- Manage time effectively, balancing delivery, preparation, travel and reporting.
- Undertake other duties appropriate to the role.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria:
- Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET) or equivalent.
- Demonstrable experience delivering education, training or prevention programmes related to violence against women and girls, healthy relationships, safeguarding or equality.
- Strong understanding of the causes and impacts of violence against women and girls and the importance of prevention-focused, intersectional approaches.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
- Ability to work flexibly, including travel across Northern Ireland and occasional evening work.
Desirable Criteria:
- Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training (CET).
- Experience delivering EVAWG-related education within schools, youth work, corporate or community-based settings.
