CSE Associate Trainer

Associate Trainer responsibility for delivering CSE training.

Contract type: Associate: Self-Employed

Salary: £50 per session (based on 90-minute sessions)

Mileage for travel will be paid at 45p per mile as per HMRC guidelines.

About Nexus:

Nexus is a Northern Ireland wide charity providing services in supporting victims and survivors of sexual abuse and abusive relationships. We deliver a range of bespoke and specialised supports and services including:

• Trauma informed counselling to those affected by sexual assault and trauma from age 8
• Post counselling support and follow-up
• A UK wide 24 hour Domestic and Sexual Abuse Helpline, funded by the Department of Health, Department of Justice, and the Department for Communities in Northern Ireland
• Education and Training initiatives delivered to a breadth of organisations, professionals, parents, schools and young people on topics such as consent, child sexual exploitation, handling disclosures and healthy relationships.

Job Purpose:

To deliver CSE Workshops on behalf of Nexus ensuring an exceptional standard of facilitation, engagement, and promotion of all Nexus services. This role will involve delivering tailored workshops to a range of single and multi-agency staff, mainly frontline workers who support children and young people. The training will ensure that individuals focus on recognising the signs and risks associated with CSE ensuring delegates know how to respond within child protection procedures for Northern Ireland.

The successful candidate will:

• Ensure workshops are delivered to a consistently high-quality standard
• Ensure the professional practice and consistent delivery of all project requirements
• Record attendance at sessions, collating evaluations, feedback, and all relevant data for use in weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting to enable continuous improvement within the products we offer
• Complete research to inform the design of up-to-date content and evaluate the CSE programme in line with Nexus Strategic objectives and Funder requirements
• Be experienced in hosting training sessions in various locations including corporate offices, government buildings, community settings, secure units such as prisons and across all levels of education settings
• In line with Nexus's safeguarding policy, maintain active engagement on all safeguarding matters so that issues are dealt with in a compliant and professional manner, with appropriate escalation to and involvement of senior management and external agencies
• Support the Early Intervention and Prevention Team to raise awareness of Nexus services to external stakeholders and service users

Personal Specification:

Shows a proven track record having demonstrated the essential skills, abilities, knowledge and/or qualifications required to be able to carry out the duties of this post.

Essential Criteria:

To be eligible to apply for the post you must be able to demonstrate one of the following categories of experience in addition to the essential criteria listed:

• Category One: 3 years' experience working with CSE in a professional capacity AND possess a University Degree or a professional qualification in one of the following disciplines or equivalent: Social Work (CQSW, CCS Dip SW), Nursing (Registered Adult Nurse), Allied Health Professional
• Category Two: 4 years' experience working with CSE in a professional capacity AND possess a QCF Level 5 Health & Social Care qualification (or equivalent NVQ Level 4)
• Category Three: 5 years' experience working with CSE in a professional capacity. Demonstrated experience working with trauma, abuse and/or complex issues

Proven experience in matters related to safeguarding laws, procedures, and escalation. Proven experience in demonstrating excellent presentation skills with the ability to engage with professional bodies, corporate clients and the public. Excellent written and verbal communication skills: possesses the ability to communicate clearly, confidently, and concisely to a wide range of audiences. Self-starter, highly motivated and works well under pressure: organised, proactive and can be agile whilst delivering sessions to fulfil the needs of the participants and the demands of the annual training calendar. Proficiency in Microsoft Office to an intermediate level, familiar with audio/visual equipment and have a clear understanding and confidence in presentation for online and in-person delivery.

Due to the nature of the role, you will be required to drive to various locations, delivering programmes and courses across Northern Ireland. Applicants must be willing to travel and have access to their own car and hold a clean driving licence.

Desirable Criteria:

• 2 years of experience working with Sexual Abuse and Trauma in a professional capacity
• Training qualification (AET, CET, CAVA)
• Experience working in the voluntary sector.
