Role Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic, hardworking and flexible Teaching Assistant Level 2 to join a dedicated staff team. Whether you are experienced within mainstream or specialist education, or have exceptional vocational skills and a real drive to make a difference, you will provide students with aspirations for their futures and promote a positive culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the development and implementation of Individual Education/Behaviour Plans and Personal Care programmes.
- Establish constructive relationships with pupils and provide support for pupils in distress.
- Promote inclusion and acceptance of all pupils and encourage participation in activities led by the teacher.
- Set challenging expectations and promote self‑esteem and independence.
- Provide feedback to pupils on progress and achievement.
- Supervise pupils, attend to personal needs, and implement personal programmes including social, health, physical, hygiene, first aid and welfare matters.
- Create and maintain a purposeful, orderly and supportive environment, in line with lesson plans.
- Support pupils to achieve learning goals and assist with the planning of learning activities.
- Monitor pupils’ responses to learning activities, accurately record achievement/progress, and give detailed feedback to teachers.
- Promote good pupil behaviour, address conflict and incidents promptly, and encourage responsibility for behaviour.
- Establish constructive relationships with parents/carers.
- Administer routine tests, invigilate exams, and undertake routine marking of pupils’ work.
- Provide clerical and administrative support including photocopying, typing, filing, managing money, and coursework administration.
- Support the use of ICT in lessons and develop pupils’ competence and independence with technology.
- Prepare, maintain and use equipment/resources to meet lesson plans and assist pupils.
- Undertake structured and agreed learning activities, adjusting as needed to pupil responses.
- Support local and national learning strategies: literacy, numeracy, KS3, early years recording achievement and progress, and learning feedback to the teacher.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience working with young people in a mainstream or specialist setting.
- Knowledge of SEN beneficial.
- Ability to respond to emotional, social and mental health needs.
- Experience in personal care hygiene support (toileting, nappy changing).
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong organisational and clerical skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding and protecting children and young people.
