Teaching Assistant post with Nexus Multi Academy Trust, based in a multi-site special school for pupils with Education Health Care Plans. Permanent and fixed-term roles of 37 hours a week are open, to start as soon as possible. The role centres on whole-class, group and one-to-one support, with a focus on pupils' emotional, social and mental health needs. Knowledge of special educational needs is essential, and applicants need an enhanced DBS check and right to work in the UK, as visa sponsorship is not available.
What the job involves
- Support whole-class lessons, group work and one-to-one teaching with pupils
- Respond to the individual needs of pupils, including emotional, social and mental health needs
- Ensure the safety of pupils
- Facilitate pupils' access to learning
- Provide personal care, including toileting and nappy changing
- Make judgements on pupils' attainment and progress
- Help pupils celebrate success
- Promote a positive culture and aspirations for pupils' futures
- Work as part of a team of staff
What’s required
Experience
- Experience as a Teaching Assistant in a mainstream or specialist education setting, or exceptional vocational skills
Skills & knowledge
- Knowledge of special educational needs (SEN)
- Ability to respond to emotional, social and mental health needs
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Motivated, enthusiastic, hardworking and flexible
- Ability to give pupils aspirations for their futures
