Our range of established media titles, expos, awards, conferences and sector-leading events provide market intelligence and business connections, underpinned by a long-standing commitment to editorial excellence.
An exciting opportunity for a self-starter has arisen to join the team at Nexus Media Group, based in our Southwark London office.
You will be joining a focused and ambitious team with extensive growth plans that include new launches.
About the role
In practice that means taking ownership of the workstreams the Chief of Staff hands over and running them properly — the planning, the coordination, the chasing and the reporting — so that things land on time and leadership always has an accurate picture of where they stand.
You'll deputise for the Chief of Staff when needed, and over time take on more of the office's remit.
This role would suit ideally someone from a numerate or analytically background — with at least three years' experience in a business, operations, analytical or consulting environment.
You'll be comfortable working with data and multiple projects at the same time.
Key responsibilities
- Delivery and coordination
- Supporting new product and event launches, keeping the many moving parts aligned
- Owning delegated workstreams end to end — planning, coordination, delivery
- Building and maintaining plans and event timelines, tracking progress and chasing what's outstanding
- Managing cross-functional work and holding teams to their commitments and deadlines
- Escalating early when something is at risk, with a recommendation rather than just a problem
- Acting as a central point of coordination between editorial, sales, marketing, events and data
- Reporting and business performance
- Preparing reports and presentations for the leadership team
- Building and maintaining the KPI, budget and performance reporting the business runs on, and making sure it's accurate and on time
- Analysing commercial and operational performance, identifying what's driving the numbers and what should change
- Providing commentary and context, not just numbers
- Process and follow-through
- Identifying and fixing weak processes — documenting how things should work and making the improvement stick
- Improving internal communication and information flow across departments
- Wider support
- Supporting business development, partnerships and client engagement
- Handling confidential information with absolute discretion
- You'll excel in this role if you are
- Degree educated, ideally in a numerate or analytically rigorous discipline, with a strong academic record and at least three years' experience in a business, operations, analytical or consulting role.
A relevant professional qualification is a plus, together with a demonstrable ambition to progress a business career
- Highly organised, proactive and solutions-driven
- Someone who finishes things — confident working independently and getting things \"over the line\"
- Comfortable working closely with senior leadership, and credible holding people more senior than you to their deadlines
- Commercially astute
- An exceptional written and verbal communicator
- Able to manage multiple priorities with calm and confidence
- Happy to switch between strategic-level work and \"getting stuck in\" on the day-to-day work that needs to happen in a smaller, fast-growth business
- Comfortable operating in someone else's name — able to take direction, run with it, and represent the office of the Chief of Staff well
- Strong IT skills, particularly Excel, Power Point and Word. Hub Spot or similar CRM experience welcome but not essential
- Positive, intellectually curious, resilient and energised by an entrepreneurial environment
What we offer
- A front-row seat in a rapidly expanding media and events business
- Direct exposure to high-level strategy and decision-making
- Opportunities to shape the company's growth and influence key initiatives
- A creative, collaborative and ambitious team culture
- Competitive remuneration
