About the Company

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Analytical Development Manager to join our team. This role is pivotal in providing technical leadership, mentoring, and strategic direction to our Analytical Development team. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality analytical development projects while driving efficiency, innovation, and commercial success.

About the Role

As the Analytical Development Manager, you will:

Responsibilities

  • Act as a technical lead and subject matter expert (SME) for method development and validation activities.
  • Provide training, mentorship, and guidance to the Analytical Development team to support their professional growth.
  • Develop and implement best practices for efficient and effective method development projects.
  • Drive the profitability and performance of the Analytical Development team.
  • Manage relationships with third-party outsource companies.
  • Support scientific marketing and business development activities.
  • Oversee the scheduling, prioritization, and delivery of projects to meet client expectations, quality standards, and commercial objectives.
  • Write and review technical documents, including test methods, validation protocols, and reports.
  • Provide scientific consultancy to support commercial sales activities and client acquisition.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • A degree in Science, Chemistry, or Analytical Chemistry (PhD is desirable).
  • 8+ years of experience in method development within a regulated analytical laboratory environment (a relevant PhD may count towards this experience).
  • Extensive expertise in analytical method development, optimization, and validation with chromatographic techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of ICH, USP, EP, and other regulatory guidance related to analytical method validation.
  • Proven ability to design, lead, and deliver complex analytical development programs in regulated environments.
  • Experience mentoring and coaching team members to support technical competency and career development.
  • Commercial acumen with experience in supporting quotations and technical proposals.

Preferred:

  • Experience authoring and reviewing technical content for regulatory submissions.
  • Experience acting as an SME during regulatory inspections and client audits.
  • Knowledge of analytical method transfers between laboratories.
  • Strong client communication skills.
  • Experience managing departmental KPIs, resource forecasting, and laboratory capacity planning.

Pay range and compensation package

  • Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 (depending on experience).
  • Holidays: 25 days per annum plus statutory holidays, with the option to purchase up to one additional week.
  • Broughton Day: Option of a fixed day off every 2 or 3 weeks through salary sacrifice.
  • Pension: Auto-enrolment.
  • Annual Bonus: Up to 10% based on company and personal performance.
  • Life Insurance: 2x basic salary death in service.
  • Health Care: Cash Plan Health Care cover.
