We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join our team at a leading pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in West Yorkshire. This role is integral to ensuring the safe, reliable, and compliant operation of critical equipment and utilities in a highly regulated environment. As part of our maintenance team, you will play a key role in supporting production continuity, site safety, and the delivery of life-saving medicines.
Responsibilities
- Performing planned preventative maintenance and managing work orders using SAP CMMS.
- Responding to breakdowns and troubleshooting mechanical faults efficiently.
- Maintaining and updating engineering drawings, SOPs, manuals, and equipment records.
- Working safely under permit-to-work systems, including hot work, confined space, critical lifts, and excavation.
- Operating, maintaining, and testing site utilities such as steam boilers, purified water systems, cooling towers, fire pumps, and deluge equipment.
- Supporting cleanroom performance checks, calibrations, and preventative maintenance activities.
- Participating in equipment qualification and contributing to small-scale engineering projects.
- Ensuring all maintenance activities comply with GMP standards and are fully documented.
Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- CompEx EX11 – Mechanical ATEX Qualification.
- Training in safe mechanical jointing (Making and Breaking Joints).
- Confined Space Entry and Standby Person certification.
- IPAF – MEWP operation and FLT license.
- Experience working in a COMAH environment.

- Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in interpreting and updating engineering drawings.
- Familiarity with SAP CMMS or similar maintenance management systems.

Day-to-Day
- Conducting routine maintenance and addressing mechanical issues to ensure uninterrupted operations.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to maintain compliance with GMP, COMAH, and ATEX standards.
- Participating in an on-call rota to provide out-of-hours breakdown support, with availability required one week in every six.
- Adhering to site safety protocols and using appropriate PPE at all times.
