Pertemps are currently recruiting for a School Cook based in Edinburgh to support a busy primary or high school kitchen.

Role: School Cook

Location: Edinburgh (Various Locations)

Hours: Monday to Thursday (hours differ depending on location, but typically 24 hours per week)

Pay Rate: £13.95 per hour

Duration: Temporary Ongoing (Term Time Only)

Start date: Immediate (after PVG certification received)

This role requires a PVG Certificate (£59 for a new application or £18 to update an existing certificate).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook nutritious school meals
  • Maintain high standards of food hygiene and safety
  • Complete food safety records and kitchen compliance checks
  • Receive and store deliveries, manage stock rotation, and assist with ordering
  • Serve meals and support school events when required
  • Carry out general kitchen duties, including cleaning and manual handling

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has previous cooking experience, ideally within a school or similar catering environment
  • Holds a relevant catering qualification or has equivalent experience
  • Has a good understanding of food hygiene, allergens, and health & safety
  • Can work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
