Overview
In this role you shape the development of a high-end, scalable e-commerce platform in a hands-on yet leadership-capable capacity. You work closely with an in-house team and report to the Tech Director, helping to resolve bottlenecks and drive architectural decisions. You’ll contribute to spec writing, project planning, code reviews, and road-mapping, while guiding a development team toward timely delivery. This is a growth-focused position in a collaborative, fast-paced tech environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize PHP/MySQL on Linux servers
- Assist with spec writing and project planning
- Conduct code reviews and provide architectural guidance
- Help manage road map and strategic technical direction
- Lead development efforts and mentor the team
- Collaborate to identify and resolve bottlenecks and performance issues
Key requirements
- 8+ years of commercial PHP/MySQL experience
- Experience with LAMP stack and Linux
- MVC, ORM experience
- Unit testing
- HTML/CSS/XHTML, jQuery
- Caching technologies (MemCached, Redis, Varnish)
- Strong communication in English, both written and verbal
- Proven ability to proactively lead development teams and meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently or in a team and handle tight timelines
