To help deliver future projects, we are seeking to expand our highly skilled and experienced Procurement team, with the appointment of a Procurement Apprentice.

This is the perfect opportunity to ‘earn while you learn’. You will work in an established business to add real value and gain experience from our accomplished teams. Our Apprenticeship offers your personal and professional development, enabling you to develop yourself to become a valued member of the team. As part of your role as a Procurement Apprentice, you will work within our Procurement team, learning our processes, supporting the team and helping achieve results, all whilst learning and developing as an individual.

Working from our head office in Great Notley, Braintree, Essex, as part of your apprenticeship you will be enrolled on a Level 3 Business Administration course and will attend regular online sessions and workshops and/or attend Colchester Institute on day release. The apprenticeship will be completed over an 18-month timeframe.

The following is a list of the key activities that you will be engaged in whilst working with our Procurement team:

  • Send out enquiries for appropriate materials, collate and analyse quotations;
  • As required, place orders with suitable suppliers for specified materials ensuring goods are delivered on the required date and purchased at the most competitive rates and within budget;
  • Consolidate purchases of materials to achieve maximum economic benefit;
  • Chase deliveries from suppliers that are overdue or urgent;
  • Use pre-authorised buying deals unless authorised otherwise by the Managing Buyer;

These are illustrative duties and the post holder will be expected to become involved in a range of work to enable the department to respond effectively to the requirements of the company.

Your Development:

  • Organisational knowledge including an understanding of the industry and sector of the organisation and the opportunities and challenges they may face;
  • Stakeholder interaction, including communication, relationship building and customer liaison;
  • Business fundamentals, including the commercial and financial aspects and impact within an organisation;
  • Business skills, market analysis, planning and organisation.

Your Skills:

  • Knowledge of our company and what we offer;
  • Knowledge and awareness of the importance of good customer service;
  • Great communication skills, with the ability to communicate verbally and in writing;
  • Good IT skills, with experience in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and Teams);
  • Team player skills with the ability to work as part of a team to deliver results;
  • Good time management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines;
  • Great level of commitment and motivation to develop.

Your Experience & Qualifications:

  • 5 x GCSEs at grade C/4 including English and Maths;
  • Strong administrational and organisational skills;
  • Experience of using MS packages including Excel and Word;
  • Access to transport to get to work/college.
