Day Shift Technician - Critical Banking Site Location: Canary Wharf Salary: £47,075 Shift Pattern: 07:00-19:00, Days Only Job Type: Permanent
A rare opportunity has become available for a Day Shift Technician to join a major facilities management provider, working at a high-profile critical banking and financial services site in Canary Wharf.
These roles do not come up very often, particularly on a days-only shift pattern, making this an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer who wants to remain within a critical environment without working nights.
The role will involve working as part of an established engineering team responsible for maintaining the site's mechanical and electrical infrastructure and ensuring the building remains safe, resilient and operational at all times.
The Role
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across critical building services.
- Work across a range of mechanical and electrical plant and equipment.
- Respond to faults, alarms and engineering issues across the site.
- Carry out first-line fault-finding and repairs.
- Monitor plant performance and identify potential issues before they develop into failures.
- Work with systems including HVAC, AHUs, pumps, BMS, electrical distribution, UPS and generators.
- Complete PPM tasks in line with site schedules and compliance requirements.
- Support safe isolations, permits and contractor activities.
- Carry out routine plant inspections and condition checks.
- Record maintenance activity accurately through the site's CAFM system.
- Provide clear engineering handovers and communicate effectively with the wider team.
- Support emergency response procedures where required.
- Liaise with specialist contractors and external service providers.
- Maintain high standards of health & safety and operational compliance.
About You
- Level 3 qualification in Electrical, Mechanical or Building Services Engineering, or equivalent.
- Previous experience within commercial FM, banking, data centres, critical facilities or another technically demanding environment.
- Strong hands-on maintenance and fault-finding experience.
- Good understanding of mechanical and/or electrical building services.
- Experience with critical plant such as UPS, generators, BMS, HVAC or electrical distribution would be advantageous.
- Comfortable working a 7am–7pm days-only shift pattern.
