Location: London or Scotland. This is a staff role. The Senior Contract Manager will oversee high-value, complex contractual agreements across all project stages, collaborating with cross-functional teams in the UK and overseas. This role requires deep expertise in FIDIC contracts (especially Yellow Book) for PSA, EWA, and TSA agreements, along with the ability to adapt global frameworks to meet UK/EU requirements. The position includes mentoring Contract Managers, managing external counsel, mitigating risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contractual Strategy: Develop and implement contract management strategies aligned with global standards and UK/EU regulations. Advise Project Managers on contractual and commercial matters, ensuring correct application of FIDIC forms. Align contractual priorities with stakeholders globally and locally.
- Contract Negotiation: Lead high-stakes negotiations for key project agreements (PSA, EWA, TSA, SAA), ensuring favorable terms and minimized risks. Collaborate with internal teams (Finance, Procurement, Project Management) and external partners to finalize contracts.
- Contract Administration: Oversee milestones, obligations, and deliverables, ensuring compliance by all parties. Manage variation claims and document control while ensuring best practices in contract administration. Monitor external legal counsel budgets for cost-effectiveness.
- Risk Management & Disputes: Identify and mitigate legal, contractual, and commercial risks proactively. Oversee dispute resolution processes with internal teams and external counsel. Provide guidance on legal advice when needed.
- Team Development: Mentor and supervise Contract Managers, equipping them to support Project Managers on contractual issues. Train staff on FIDIC contracts and other key forms while fostering a collaborative, learning-focused team culture.
- Global Integration: Collaborate with parent company teams in China to adapt global frameworks and promote cross-cultural alignment. Incorporate global best practices into local processes.
- Continuous Improvement: Implement tools and systems to enhance efficiency and compliance in contract management. Stay updated on industry standards, legal trends, and market conditions to maintain a competitive edge.
- Reporting & Communication: Prepare and present reports, risk assessments, and recommendations to senior leadership. Act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders on key contractual decisions.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business, Quantity Surveying, or related field (Master’s, MBA, or legal qualifications are a plus).
Experience: 7+ years in contract management, with expertise in FIDIC forms (especially Yellow Book). 3+ years in offshore wind or renewable energy. Proven experience negotiating PSAs, EWAs, TSAs, or similar high-value agreements in large-scale, cross-border projects.
Skills: Strong negotiation, leadership, and cross-cultural collaboration skills. Knowledge of UK/EU regulations and offshore wind industry standards.
