Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled Camunda Engineer to design, develop, and optimise workflow automation solutions using Camunda, with a strong preference for Camunda 8. This role is suited to someone who can build scalable, resilient, and modern process orchestration solutions, integrating workflow automation into microservices and event-driven architectures. Candidates with strong Camunda 7 experience may also be considered if they can clearly explain the differences between Camunda 7 and Camunda 8, and how their experience translates into a Camunda 8-led environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy workflows using Camunda / Zeebe
- Translate business requirements into technical workflow solutions
- Implement BPMN / DMN-based process automation
- Integrate workflows with REST APIs, microservices, and external systems
- Optimise process performance, scalability, and reliability
- Monitor and troubleshoot workflow execution and operational issues
- Collaborate with product, architecture, DevOps, and backend engineering teams
- Support best practices across: process modelling, versioning, governance, deployment
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native deployment models
Required Skills & Experience
Essential
- Strong experience working with Camunda, ideally Camunda 8 / Zeebe
- Camunda 8 Certification strongly preferred
- Strong experience with: BPMN 2.0, DMN, workflow orchestration
- Proficiency in Java / Spring Boot or equivalent backend technologies
- Experience with: REST APIs, Kafka / RabbitMQ / messaging systems, microservices, event-driven systems, Docker / Kubernetes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Preferred / Desirable
- Experience with Camunda SaaS or self-managed deployments
- Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines
- Exposure to task UI / frontend integration
- Understanding of process monitoring and optimisation tooling
- Experience with both Camunda 7 and Camunda 8
