NextWave Consulting is hiring a mid-level Trading Systems Developer to support the build and evolution of financial services technology platforms. This role sits close to trading and data systems and focuses on developing applications, APIs, and data workflows using Python, Angular, SQL, and Databricks. You will work with internal engineering teams and business stakeholders in a regulated environment. Prior asset management or trading experience is not mandatory — strong financial services engineering experience and the ability to learn quickly are key.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Design, build, test, and support components across financial and trading systems
- Develop backend services using Python (primary language)
- Build and maintain Angular-based user interfaces and workflows
- Develop and support APIs and system integrations (REST; WebSockets a plus)
- Work with SQL databases to optimise queries and data access
- Support and extend Databricks-based data pipelines as the platform matures
- Investigate and resolve production issues
- Follow good engineering practices in a regulated environment
WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING
- Software development experience within financial services (banking, trading, payments, fintech, etc.)
- Strong Python development skills
- Experience with Angular or similar frontend frameworks
- Working knowledge of SQL
- Experience building or supporting APIs
- Exposure to Databricks or modern data platforms (can be junior / learning level)
- Familiarity with trading systems, market data, or OMS concepts is a plus, not required
- Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn
