About NextStep

NextStep connects top consulting talent with high-potential opportunities through smart, AI-powered matching. We partner with ambitious companies across sectors to place experienced professionals in roles where they can have a real impact.

About the Company

Our client is a Series C HealthTech company headquartered in London, providing AI-powered diagnostic support tools to NHS trusts, private hospital networks, and health insurers across the UK and Europe. With £40m raised to date, 200 employees, and a growing pipeline of enterprise contracts, the business is entering a pivotal phase, preparing for potential Series D fundraising and a pathway to public markets. The CEO is looking for a trusted strategic operator to take on the most critical cross-functional projects and free executive capacity as the organisation scales.

The Role

As Head of Special Projects, you will be the CEO's right hand on the initiatives that don't fit neatly into any existing function. You will scope, lead, and deliver a rotating portfolio of strategic, commercial, and operational projects, from international market entry and investor relations support to internal transformation and board preparation. This is a senior, high-trust role for someone who is equally comfortable in a board presentation and a working-level problem-solving session.

What You'll Do

  • Own and drive a portfolio of CEO-prioritised strategic projects, defining scope, building the approach, and delivering results with limited direction.
  • Lead the preparation of materials for Board meetings, investor updates, and strategic planning sessions, including board decks, data rooms, and strategic narrative documents.
  • Support international expansion efforts, including market assessments, regulatory mapping, and partnership development in new geographies.
  • Act as a thought partner and sounding board for the CEO on major business decisions, providing analysis, challenge, and a point of view.
  • Identify organisational capability gaps and coordinate cross-functional initiatives to address them, working with department heads across the business.

What We're Looking For

  • 6–10 years of experience in management consulting, investment banking, or a senior strategy or Chief of Staff role in a high-growth company.
  • Proven ability to work at pace on complex, ambiguous problems, and to deliver high-quality output with minimal process and support.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication, able to write at board level and present with authority to senior stakeholders.
  • High emotional intelligence and discretion; trusted with sensitive strategic and commercial information.
  • Experience in healthcare, life sciences, or technology is an advantage but not a requirement.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary of £90,000 – £115,000, depending on experience.
  • Annual performance bonus.
  • Significant share options in a pre-IPO business.
  • Private health cover, enhanced pension, and 27 days holiday.
  • Hybrid working from London with some travel required.

How to Apply

To be considered for this role, please create your profile. Once your profile is complete, our matching system will evaluate your background against the role criteria and match you with the company if it's a strong fit. No cover letter required. This role is listed by NextStep on behalf of our client. All applications are handled with confidentiality.
