NextGen Teachers are currently recruiting for experienced and compassionate 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistants to work across a range of welcoming schools throughout Wakefield. These full-time opportunities involve supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis who have a variety of additional needs, including Autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, SEMH, communication difficulties and learning disabilities. The successful candidates will play a vital role in helping pupils access learning, build confidence and develop positive relationships within the school environment. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting children with SEN and are looking to make a genuine difference within inclusive and supportive school settings.
The Role:
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support for pupils with a range of SEN needs
- Support pupils both inside and outside of the classroom environment
- Assist with learning activities, emotional regulation and social development
- Adapt support strategies to meet individual pupil needs and learning styles
- Help pupils remain engaged, focused and confident throughout the school day
- Support positive behaviour and encourage independence
- Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs and wider support staff
- Create a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment
Requirements:
- Previous SEN experience within a school or similar setting is essential
- Experience supporting pupils with Autism, ADHD, SEMH or communication needs is highly desirable
- A calm, patient and nurturing approach
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- The ability to adapt quickly and work proactively
- A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
