NextGen Teachers are working in partnership with a large SEN school based in Leeds who are seeking to recruit an experienced full-time SEN Teacher for a permanent position in the new academic year from September 2026. This role will be to teach in the Informal Pathway with learners from 4-16 years with various needs including: ASD, ADHD, GDD, SLCN and Complex needs. Most children in this pathway are pre-verbal / non-verbal with significant communication needs. Qualified Teaching Status is required.

The Role

  • Plan and deliver personalised learning programmes in line with EHCP targets
  • Create calm, safe, and inclusive classroom environments
  • Use a range of communication and sensory approaches to engage learners
  • Track and record progress through observations, assessments, and communication with families
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, parents, and external professionals
  • Support pupils with personal care where required
  • Assist with positioning and mobility to support physical development needs
  • Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
  • Deliver sensory-based interventions such as sensory circuits
  • Contribute to wider school life and enrichment opportunities

What We’re Looking For

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience teaching in a specialist environment for a minimum of 2 years
  • Confidence supporting personal care needs
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach
  • Team Teach training (or willingness to complete it)
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A clear understanding of safeguarding responsibilities
  • A genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs
