Overview: NextGen Teachers are currently working with a welcoming primary school in Pontefract, who are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Primary Teaching Assistant to join their team on a supply basis. This is a rewarding opportunity to support KS1 and KS2 children, encouraging them to thrive within the classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide group and 1:1 support for children across the school
  • Assist in the delivery of personalised learning plans under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCO
  • Provide support to children with additional needs, such as Autism and ADHD
  • Support the academic, social, and emotional development of the children
  • Implement behaviour management strategies consistently and effectively
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, parents, and external professionals where required

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with primary aged children
  • Experience supporting individuals with SEN (e.g., ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs, or SEMH)
  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to adapt to different classroom environments on a supply basis
  • The right to work in the UK
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to complete one)
  • The ability to provide 24 months of professional references
