NextGen Teachers are recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist education setting in Leeds from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and is looking to secure a long-term, permanent position within a welcoming and supportive school environment.
The Role
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with a range of additional needs
- Supporting pupils with their learning, communication and social development
- Helping pupils remain engaged and regulated throughout the school day
- Supporting the implementation of individual learning and support plans
- Promoting independence, confidence and positive behaviour
- Working collaboratively with teachers, SEN professionals and wider school staff
- Helping to create a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment
The Ideal Candidate
- Have previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND
- Are patient, resilient, caring and adaptable
- Have a genuine passion for helping pupils with additional needs reach their potential
- Are confident building positive and trusting relationships with pupils
- Can work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary school team
- Are looking for a full-time, permanent position from September
Experience within a specialist SEN school, mainstream SEN provision, care setting or similar environment would be particularly beneficial.
