About the Role
Next Gen Teachers are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Leeds, who are looking to appoint an
Behaviour Support Worker to join their dedicated team.
This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils across the primary age range who require additional help with their social, emotional and behavioural development.
You'll work with a variety of children, supporting them both within mainstream classrooms and the school's onsite inclusion provision, helping them access learning, develop positive relationships and achieve their full potential.
The school has a strong focus on inclusion and early intervention, with a supportive leadership team and excellent opportunities for professional development.
Key Responsibilities
- Support pupils with social, emotional and behavioural needs across EYFS, KS1 and KS2.
- Work within mainstream classrooms and the school's onsite inclusion provision, depending on the needs of individual pupils.
- Build positive, trusting relationships to help pupils regulate their emotions and engage successfully in learning.
- Deliver targeted one-to-one and small group interventions to support behaviour, wellbeing and emotional development.
- Work closely with teachers, SEND staff and pastoral teams to implement behaviour support strategies.
- Encourage positive behaviour, resilience, confidence and independence.
- Maintain accurate records of pupil progress, behaviour and interventions.
- Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment for all pupils.
Requirements
We're looking for someone who
- Has experience supporting children or young people, ideally within a primary school, SEN, behaviour support or pastoral setting.
- Has experience working with pupils who present with additional needs such as Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH or other behavioural needs.
- Is calm, patient and resilient, with excellent behaviour management skills.
- Can build positive relationships while maintaining high expectations and consistent boundaries.
- Has a genuine passion for supporting children to succeed both academically and emotionally.
- Has a good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- Holds an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or is willing to obtain one.
- Holds GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths (or equivalent).
