Role Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the planning and delivery of high‑quality lessons tailored to meet the individual needs of pupils with SEMH and additional needs
  • Supporting the class team in facilitating learning opportunities and promoting positive behaviours
  • Creating a safe, engaging and structured learning environment that encourages confidence, progress and achievement
  • Reporting on pupils’ progress and concerns, and liaising with wider school staff to ensure pupils’ needs are met effectively
  • Using effective behaviour management strategies and restorative approaches to support pupils with complex needs
  • Supervision of pupils during non‑classroom time including extra‑curricular activities and school trips
  • Building positive relationships with pupils and driving interaction, engagement and positive learning outcomes

Requirements

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Have a strong basic education to degree level
  • Previous successful teaching experience
  • Previous experience working with pupils with SEMH, SEN and/or challenging behaviour within an educational setting
  • Experience of behaviour management strategies and techniques
  • A calm, resilient and nurturing approach
  • Committed to professional development and willing to learn
  • Must be willing to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check prior to commencing work
