Role Responsibilities
- Responsible for the planning and delivery of high‑quality lessons tailored to meet the individual needs of pupils with SEMH and additional needs
- Supporting the class team in facilitating learning opportunities and promoting positive behaviours
- Creating a safe, engaging and structured learning environment that encourages confidence, progress and achievement
- Reporting on pupils’ progress and concerns, and liaising with wider school staff to ensure pupils’ needs are met effectively
- Using effective behaviour management strategies and restorative approaches to support pupils with complex needs
- Supervision of pupils during non‑classroom time including extra‑curricular activities and school trips
- Building positive relationships with pupils and driving interaction, engagement and positive learning outcomes
Requirements
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Have a strong basic education to degree level
- Previous successful teaching experience
- Previous experience working with pupils with SEMH, SEN and/or challenging behaviour within an educational setting
- Experience of behaviour management strategies and techniques
- A calm, resilient and nurturing approach
- Committed to professional development and willing to learn
- Must be willing to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check prior to commencing work
