About the School
We are recruiting on behalf of a specialist independent school in Huddersfield that supports pupils aged 5-18 with SEMH needs and associated conditions, including Autism, ADHD, attachment difficulties, Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, and sensory processing needs. With small class sizes, strong pastoral support, and excellent staff-to-pupil ratios, the school provides a nurturing environment where pupils are supported to achieve both academically and personally.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to pupils' individual needs.
- Create a safe, structured, and positive learning environment.
- Support pupils with SEMH and additional needs to achieve their learning goals.
- Use effective behaviour management and restorative approaches.
- Monitor and report on pupil progress and wellbeing.
- Build positive relationships that encourage engagement, confidence, and achievement.
- Support pupils during enrichment activities, trips, and non-classroom times.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Previous teaching experience within a school setting.
- Experience supporting pupils with SEMH, SEN, or challenging behaviour.
- A calm, resilient, and nurturing approach.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
