This is a rewarding opportunity to teach small classes within a supportive, therapeutic environment where relationships, wellbeing, and individual progress are at the heart of everything the school does.

The Role

As an SEMH Teacher, you will deliver engaging and differentiated lessons across a range of subjects, depending on your experience and specialism, while supporting students to overcome barriers to learning and achieve positive outcomes both academically and personally.

You will work closely with pastoral teams, SEN professionals, therapists, and support staff to create a nurturing and structured learning environment where students can thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Planning and delivering engaging lessons to secondary-aged students
  • Teaching across a range of subjects in line with curriculum requirements and student needs
  • Supporting pupils with SEMH, Autism (ASC), ADHD, anxiety, and additional learning needs
  • Adapting teaching strategies to meet individual learning profiles and EHCP outcomes
  • Promoting emotional regulation, resilience, and positive behaviour for learning
  • Building strong, consistent, and trusting relationships with students
  • Monitoring progress and implementing targeted interventions where required
  • Working collaboratively with support staff, therapists, and families
  • Contributing to annual reviews, reports, and personalised learning plans
  • Creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds QTS, QTLS, or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Has experience teaching secondary-aged students
  • Has experience supporting pupils with SEMH, SEN, SEND, or behavioural needs
  • Is adaptable and confident teaching across a range of subjects
  • Understands trauma-informed and relationship-based approaches
  • Is calm, resilient, and able to build positive relationships with young people
  • Has strong classroom management and behaviour support skills
  • Is passionate about helping students re-engage with learning and achieve success

Why Apply?

  • Permanent, full-time opportunity within a specialist SEMH setting
  • Small class sizes and high staff-to-student ratios
  • Supportive leadership team and collaborative staff culture
  • Ongoing CPD and specialist SEMH training opportunities
  • Opportunity to make a lasting impact on young people's lives
  • Excellent career development and progression opportunities
  • Well-resourced environment focused on student wellbeing and achievement
