NextGen Teachers are seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to support a year 5 pupil with an Education, Health and Care Plan for ASD (Autism) and ADHD, providing tailored 1:1 support both academically and emotionally. This role includes assisting with the breakfast club, creating a welcoming and positive start to the pupils’ day.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a named pupil, implementing their EHCP targets in daily learning
- Adapt activities to meet the pupil’s individual needs, abilities, and learning style
- Support the development of communication, social interaction, and independence skills
- Use appropriate communication strategies
- Apply consistent behaviour support and emotional regulation strategies
- Monitor, record, and report on progress and engagement against EHCP outcomes
- Work closely with the class teacher and SEN team to ensure a consistent, personalised approach
- Support with sensory needs and movement breaks where required
- Assist with personal care in a respectful and dignified manner
- Supervise and engage pupils in a safe, calm, and welcoming environment before the school day
