THE ROLE

We are seeking an experienced, commercially minded and highly delivery-focused contractor to support Next Energy Solar Fund's (NESF) investment and value creation initiatives.

Working closely with the NESF Investment Director and wider internal teams, the role will help execute priority transactions, support capital recycling and strengthen delivery discipline across key NESF workstreams.

The contractor will provide hands-on support across NESF’s sale process, divestment and refinancing activity, governance requirements, adviser coordination and selected initiatives designed to enhance portfolio value and improve long-term shareholder outcomes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The role main responsibilities are

  • Support the execution of NESF’s transactional work programme, including sale process activity, divestments, refinancing, capital recycling and related workstreams.
  • Provide transaction execution support across structuring, due diligence, adviser coordination, data room preparation, execution planning, negotiation support and delivery tracking.
  • Support selected NESF value creation initiatives, including asset performance improvement, repowering opportunities, energy storage expansion, revenue optimisation, cost efficiency and risk mitigation.
  • Work with Finance, Commercial, Operations, M&A, Investor Relations and external advisers to convert agreed NESF priorities into structured, well-managed delivery plans.
  • Prepare and contribute to high-quality Investment Committee papers, Board materials, transaction summaries, business cases and strategic decision documents.
  • Review and challenge investment models, valuation outputs, sensitivities, business cases and reporting materials to support robust decision-making and internal transparency.
  • Support governance and stakeholder management across NESF workstreams, ensuring clear ownership, timely outputs, effective escalation and consistent communication.
  • Coordinate with Wise Energy and other delivery partners to support asset-level diligence, data quality, operating insight, action tracking and handover of transaction-related requirements.
  • Bring project management discipline to NESF strategic initiatives, ensuring workstreams are prioritised, sequenced and progressed in line with agreed timelines and governance requirements.
  • Provide hands-on support to the NESF Investment Director and wider team, including analysis, issue resolution, meeting preparation, adviser management and delivery follow-through.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Relevant investment, transaction execution, portfolio management or value creation experience within renewable energy, infrastructure, power, project finance, private equity, asset management or a closely related sector.
  • Experience supporting M&A, divestment, refinancing, capital recycling or portfolio value creation processes, including due diligence, adviser coordination, data room management, modelling review and execution tracking.
  • Good understanding of UK renewable energy markets, ideally including solar PV, battery storage, grid, power markets, asset performance and financing considerations.
  • Experience preparing high-quality materials for Investment Committee, Board or senior stakeholder review, with the ability to summarise key issues, risks, options and recommendations clearly.
  • Strong financial and commercial capability, including the ability to review investment models, valuation outputs, sensitivities, return drivers and capital structure options.
  • Experience working with lenders, advisers, asset managers, operating partners and internal stakeholders across transaction or portfolio management activity.
  • Strong project management discipline, with the ability to coordinate workstreams, manage inputs from multiple parties and maintain momentum under demanding timelines.
  • Professional qualification such as CFA, ACA or equivalent would be advantageous but is not essential.
  • Legal right to work in the UK.
