The Global Head of Group Health & Safety is a senior, strategically critical leadership role within NextEnergy Group. The position is accountable for defining and leading the Group-wide Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) strategy across all geographies, business units and asset classes. The role ensures effective management of health, safety and wellbeing risks for direct employees across multiple jurisdictions. It is also responsible for ensuring that all legal and regulatory obligations discharged to third parties, including O&M and EPC partners, are clearly defined, effectively governed and demonstrably complied with.
Acting as the Group authority on H&S, the role provides assurance and expert guidance to the Global Leadership Team, Boards, investors and external stakeholders. It ensures risks are proactively identified, managed and continuously improved through data‑led insight, while supporting broader business goals by protecting people and assets, enabling sustainable growth, safeguarding licence to operate and strengthening partner performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and continuously evolve the Group Health, Safety & Wellbeing strategy, governance framework and standards across all regions, asset classes and lifecycle stages.
- Develop and own the multi‑year Group HSW Risk Improvement Plan, delivering measurable risk reduction for employees and partners.
- Ensure full compliance with health and safety legislation across all operating jurisdictions.
- Govern and assure discharged HSW responsibilities to O&M and EPC partners, ensuring contractual robustness and audit readiness.
- Act as the senior escalation point for HSW matters, including leading serious incident investigations and regulatory engagement.
- Establish and oversee Group‑wide HSW metrics, reporting and assurance frameworks to provide clear performance insight to GLT, Boards and investors.
- Drive continuous improvement through corrective actions, lessons learned and proactive risk management.
- Build a strong, proactive and learning‑led safety culture supported by risk‑based training and competence frameworks.
- Strengthening health and safety performance across the partner ecosystem, improving reliability and resilience.
- Build and lead a high‑performing HSW function, ensuring capability, expertise and sustainability aligned to current and future business needs.
- Provide credible assurance and expert advice to senior stakeholders, supporting strategic decision‑making.

Experience & Qualifications
- Significant senior leadership experience in Health, Safety and Wellbeing within a global, multi‑jurisdictional environment.
- Proven track record of defining and implementing HSW strategies and governance frameworks at Group level.
- Strong experience managing third‑party risk, particularly with O&M and EPC partners.
- Demonstrable expertise in regulatory compliance, incident management and HSW assurance.
- Experience building and leading high‑performing teams and fostering a strong safety culture.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at executive and board level.
- Data‑driven mindset with experience in HSW metrics, reporting and performance improvement.
- Relevant professional certifications in Health & Safety (e.g. NEBOSH or equivalent) preferred.
- Extensive years of relevant experience in health, safety and wellbeing leadership roles.
- The right to work in the UK.
