Senior Technical Engineer – Hybrid (Manchester) – £55,000

This is a fantastic hybrid opportunity based in Manchester, offering up to £55,000 per year.

What You’ll Be Doing

1. Cloud & Infrastructure Delivery: Implement and manage Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, and Google Cloud solutions for educational institutions.
2. Project Management: Collaborate with school staff and IT teams to scope, design, and execute IT projects, including network upgrades, cloud migrations, and cybersecurity enhancements.
3. Technical Support & Troubleshooting: Provide expert 2nd/3rd line support to ensure the smooth operation of IT systems across multiple sites.
4. Cybersecurity & Compliance: Implement best practices for firewalls, web filtering, data protection, and recovery to keep educational environments secure.
5. Training & Documentation: Educate school staff on new technologies, IT security, and best practices, while maintaining clear documentation.

What You Need to Succeed

1. Strong expertise in Microsoft Azure – Full-stack implementation, delivery, and management experience is a must!
2. Proven experience in Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and Cloud Infrastructure.
3. Knowledge of networking, VLAN, routing, firewalls, and connectivity solutions.
4. Experience with MDM platforms (Microsoft Intune, Google MDM).
5. Virtualization experience: VMware, Hyper-V, SAN, iSCSI, HA configuration.
6. A problem-solving mindset with the ability to support a range of IT infrastructure challenges.
7. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
8. Educational sector experience: Understanding of school IT environments is a big plus!

Desirable Certifications

Google Cloud Certifications – Cloud Architect, Google Classroom, Google Workspace
