Our client, a large UK organisation within a global group, is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to join their IT team in a hybrid role. This position will focus on the design, support and ongoing improvement of both on-premise and cloud (Azure) infrastructure, with a strong emphasis on security, resilience and availability.
You will play a key role in infrastructure upgrades, new solution design, incident response and disaster recovery planning, working across multiple UK sites with occasional wider travel.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement and support on-premise and Azure-based infrastructure
- Manage servers, virtualised environments, storage (SAN/NAS) and network devices
- Monitor system performance, availability, backups and security
- Support disaster recovery and business continuity processes
- Respond to infrastructure incidents and contribute to continuous improvement
- Maintain technical documentation and share knowledge within the team
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in infrastructure engineering across on-prem and cloud environments
- Strong Microsoft server, virtualisation (VMware / Hyper-V) and networking knowledge
- Good understanding of cybersecurity principles, firewalls and endpoint protection
- Experience working in Agile environments
- Strong troubleshooting, communication and organisational skills
Desirable:
- Experience with Palo Alto firewalls
- Azure, monitoring tools, storage technologies and advanced networking
- Hands-on experience configuring and managing routers, switches, and firewalls
- Experience with SAN (Storage Area Network) and NAS (Network Attached Storage) technologies, including provisioning, performance tuning, and backup strategies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in configuring and managing LogicMonitor for infrastructure monitoring, including custom dashboard creation, alert tuning
- Strong time management, multitasking, and attention to detail
- Ability to perform under pressure, especially during incidents or high-demand periods
