About the Role
We are looking for a motivated and technically capable IT Support Engineer to join our team based in Manchester. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with at least one year of hands-on IT support experience who is looking to grow their career in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. You will be the first point of contact for all IT-related queries, providing efficient and professional support to end users across the business. The role offers a flexible hybrid working arrangement - 2 days on-site in Manchester and 3 days working from home.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1st and 2nd line technical support to end users via phone, email, and ticketing system
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues in a timely manner
- Set up and configure laptops, desktops, mobile devices, and peripherals
- Manage user accounts and permissions using Active Directory / Microsoft 365
- Maintain and update the IT asset register and documentation
- Escalate complex issues to senior IT staff or third-party vendors where appropriate
- Support onboarding of new starters, including equipment setup and system access
- Assist with IT projects and infrastructure improvements as required
- Ensure IT procedures and security policies are followed across the business
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of IT support processes and documentation
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 1 year of experience in an IT support or helpdesk role
- Strong knowledge of Windows 10/11 operating systems
- Experience with Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive)
- Familiarity with Active Directory - creating and managing user accounts and groups
- Basic networking knowledge (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Wi-Fi troubleshooting)
- Experience troubleshooting hardware issues (laptops, desktops, printers, peripherals)
- Good understanding of IT security best practices
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical users
- A proactive, can-do attitude with excellent problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage and prioritise a varied workload effectively
Desirable Skills
- Experience with an IT ticketing system (e.g. Freshdesk, Jira Service Management, Zendesk)
- Knowledge of Azure Active Directory / Entra ID
- Familiarity with remote desktop tools (e.g. TeamViewer, AnyDesk)
- CompTIA A+, Microsoft certifications, or equivalent qualifications
- Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Exposure to basic PowerShell scripting or automation
