Up to £45,000 basic + £15,000 OTE | Middlesbrough
We are supporting a well-established IT services provider who are looking for an IT Security & Infrastructure Engineer to own cyber security across their own estate and their clients' environments.
This isn't a developmental role. You'll be hands-on from day one, so we're looking for someone with the technical grounding and security exposure to take ownership quickly and work with minimal supervision. You'll combine infrastructure engineering with a security specialism, delivering Cyber Essentials and Penetration Testing engagements and helping to shape security services that clients pay for.
What you'll be doing
- Owning the security posture of the business and its clients, identifying risks and driving remediation
- Implementing and maintaining security controls, including endpoint protection, email security, MFA, conditional access and patch/vulnerability management
- Delivering Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus certification, from scoping and evidence gathering through to remediation and submission
- Leading penetration testing engagements and coordination
- Monitoring, triaging and responding to security alerts and incidents
- Designing, deploying and supporting Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365 / Azure, firewalls and network infrastructure
- Delivering backup and disaster recovery solutions and infrastructure projects
- Acting as an escalation point and flexing into Service Desk support when needed
What we're looking for
- Proven experience in a security-focused or infrastructure engineering role
- Demonstrable Cyber Essentials / Cyber Essentials Plus experience
- Exposure to pen testing (scoping, coordinating or delivering)
- Solid Windows Server (AD, GPO, DNS/DHCP), Microsoft 365 / Azure AD and networking skills (VLANs, firewalls, routing/switching)
- Experience with vulnerability scanning and security tooling, and familiarity with RMM/PSA platforms
- Confidence leading internal and client meetings, with a commercial mindset that sees security as a product, not just a cost
- MSP, Health or Education sector experience is desirable but not essential
What's on offer
- Up to £45,000 basic salary + £15,000 OTE
- Support towards professional security certifications for the right candidate
- A high-ownership role with real influence over how the security function develops
