Job Title: 2nd Line IT Support Engineer (MSP)
Location: Nottingham
We are a growing Managed Service Provider (MSP) delivering IT support and technology solutions to a wide range of clients. Our services include cloud, networking, security, VoIP, and IT infrastructure management.
We’re now seeking an experienced 2nd Line IT Support Engineer to join our technical team. This role will suit someone with strong troubleshooting skills, excellent customer service, and a proven track record supporting a variety of IT systems in an MSP or multi-client environment.
The Role
As a 2nd Line Support Engineer, you will be responsible for resolving escalated technical issues, assisting with project work, and ensuring high-quality service delivery to our clients. You will work with a wide range of technologies, supporting everything from desktops and servers to cloud platforms and network infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 2nd line technical support for clients via phone, remote tools, and on-site visits
- Troubleshoot and resolve escalated IT issues from the 1st line support team
- Support Windows Server environments, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and Azure services
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot networking equipment (switches, firewalls, routers, VPNs, Wi-Fi)
- Assist with IT infrastructure projects such as migrations, upgrades, and new deployments
- Maintain accurate documentation for client systems and service activities
- Work closely with colleagues and third-party vendors to ensure issues are resolved promptly
- Deliver exceptional customer service and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical users
What You’ll Bring
- 2+ years’ experience in an IT support role (preferably in an MSP environment)
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365, Windows Server, and Active Directory
- Understanding of networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, VLANs, firewalls, VPNs)
- Experience with cloud services (Microsoft 365, Azure)
- Familiarity with virtualisation technologies (VMware, Hyper-V)
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to work methodically under pressure
- Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach
- Full UK driving licence (occasional client site visits required)
