Mid-Level Software Developer - C# / .NET / VB.NET
Location: Clacton-on-Sea, Essex - Hybrid
Salary: Β£35,000 - Β£40,000+ DOE
Job Type: Permanent, Full-time
Please note - The Client does not offer sponsorship.
We're working with an established technology business in the Clacton-on-Sea area that is looking for a Mid-Level Software Developer to join its development team.
This is a varied, hands-on development role where you'll work across a combination of existing business-critical applications and new development projects, giving you exposure to both established .NET technologies and a more modern Microsoft stack.
The role would suit someone who already has a solid grounding in .NET development but wants more responsibility, technical variety and the opportunity to continue progressing.
The Role
As a Mid-Level Software Developer, you'll be involved throughout the development lifecycle, helping to design, develop, maintain and improve software applications.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing applications using C#, .NET Core / modern .NET and VB.NET
- Maintaining and improving existing .NET / VB.NET applications
- Developing and integrating REST APIs
- Working with SQL Server databases
- Investigating bugs, performance issues and technical problems
- Refactoring and improving existing code where appropriate
- Writing clean, maintainable and reusable code
- Supporting the ongoing modernisation of existing applications
- Contributing to new features and development projects
- Working collaboratively with other developers and technical colleagues
This isn't purely a legacy-support position. The requirement for VB.NET sits alongside C# and modern .NET development, so you'll have the chance to work across different generations of the Microsoft ecosystem.
Tech Stack
Experience across the following would be particularly relevant:
- C#
- .NET Core / modern .NET
- VB.NET
- ASP.NET / MVC
- SQL Server
- REST APIs
- Entity Framework
- JavaScript
- A modern JavaScript framework such as React, Vue or Angular
- Git / source control
You don't necessarily need to tick every box. Strong commercial experience with C#/.NET, combined with the ability to work with VB.NET, will be particularly relevant.
What We're Looking For
You'll ideally be a developer who is comfortable getting into an existing codebase, understanding how it works and then improving it rather than simply maintaining it.
You'll have:
- Commercial experience developing applications within the Microsoft .NET ecosystem
- Good experience with C#
- Experience working with VB.NET
- Exposure to .NET Core / modern .NET
- A good understanding of relational databases and SQL
- Experience developing or integrating APIs
- Good software-development fundamentals
- An ability to troubleshoot and solve technical problems
- A collaborative approach to development
Why Consider It?
This should particularly appeal to someone who doesn't want to be boxed into one narrow area of development.
You'll have the opportunity to work across existing systems, modernisation work and new development, while strengthening your experience across C#, modern .NET, databases, APIs and front-end technologies.
For a mid-level developer looking for a role where they can broaden their technical experience and continue progressing, there's plenty here to get stuck into.
