Job Description
About the Role:
You’ve probably heard of us, but there’s a lot you might not know about NEXT. We create most of our own systems, from our website and mobile apps to the applications that keep our business running. We\’re growing fast, and that means exciting opportunities for everyone here.
Our Finance Systems test team is at the heart of what we do, ensuring that our in-house Finance and Payments applications are robust, effective, and provide a quality user experience. The team is passionate about delivering high-standard testing and is focused on driving quality solutions for our customers, making sure payments are processed accurately, financial data is secure, and our business partners are supported.
Technology is what drives us. As we go through a huge period of change, we need a solid team to help us push our systems forward.
As a Test Team Leader, you will be responsible for planning, scheduling, coordinating, and managing all software test activities. You will be a key player in implementing processes that improve the quality and effectiveness of our software development lifecycle. Your role will involve reviewing project documentation, influencing quality from the start with early issue detection and risk assessment, and preparing thorough test plans and reports.
A significant part of this role will be to support the team in transitioning to a new core system, a major change for everyone. You will also be at the forefront of our AI initiatives, supporting the team in using tools like Gemini and LM Notebook to create test case scenarios, reduce manual work, and enhance quality.
About You:
You will have experience with:
- A proven track record in team management within a test environment, including mentoring, appraising, and developing team members.
- The ability to plan and prioritise work for your team and manage stakeholders to ensure deadlines are met.
- Demonstrable knowledge of the systems development life cycle with practical experience of standard test approaches.
- Practical knowledge of testing methodologies, usability, accessibility, security, and web standards.
- The ability to interpret technical documentation, architectures, and functional specifications.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyse existing systems to resolve incidents and identify risks.
In addition, we\’re looking for you to have:
- Experience with onshore and offshore models is desirable, with a focus on remote collaboration and productivity.
- Experience with automation tools. While we use Leapwork and Selenium, we believe the level of experience is more important than specific tool knowledge. We are open to candidates experienced with other tools like Playwright.
- An understanding of performance testing as part of project delivery.
- A good understanding of automation as a delivery tool and how to use it to optimise delivery.
- Experience working in an agile/scrum environment.
- A good understanding of a language such as C# or Java.
You\’ll be doing all this from our Leicestershire Head Office on a hybrid basis. It’s a fast-paced, encouraging, and supportive environment where everyone is committed to delivering for our customers and growing their own careers. Bring your energy. Play to your strengths. Let\’s Take It On.
