The Role
As a Developer within our HR Tech team in Enderby, you’ll provide the high-quality programming and analytical skills needed to power the systems that support our people. You won’t just be writing code; you’ll be making a tangible difference by creating and enhancing applications that streamline the employee experience at NEXT. Working closely with a collaborative team of experts, you’ll translate complex business requirements into elegant technical solutions. What You’ll Take On
- Build and enhance new and existing HR systems using a broad tech stack, ensuring our applications remain robust and future-proof.
- Develop, test, and implement code to high industry standards, taking ownership of the full lifecycle from initial requirements to final deployment.
- Collaborate across the business, working with fellow developers, business users, and other Systems departments to turn ideas into reality.
- Solve complex problems by providing fault-finding expertise, following technical issues through to resolution to keep our systems running smoothly.
- Maintain clear documentation for various audiences, ensuring our processes are transparent and easy to follow for the whole team.
- Support key business events by providing out-of-hours support when required, ensuring our critical HR functions never miss a beat.
What you’ll bring
- Proven commercial experience in web development, specifically with C#, VB.NET, WebApi, ASP.NET, and SQL Server.
- Front-end flair, with a strong grasp of MVC, jQuery, JavaScript, Bootstrap, and CSS, and an understanding of browser compatibility across mobile and desktop.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage your workload effectively and stay calm when faced with tight or changing deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, allowing you to convey technical ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical colleagues.
- A growth mindset, with a desire to proactively improve your skills and stay ahead of emerging technology trends.
- Technical curiosity, ideally with experience in TFS or Git, and an interest in (or experience of) Agile frameworks, SSIS, or UI design.
