The Confidential Payroll Coordinator role is a vital, high‑integrity position within the Head Office, responsible for ensuring that our senior leadership team is paid accurately, on time, and in full compliance with HMRC legislation. The role offers excellent flexibility, working 21.75 hours over three days, with occasional flexibility required during the third week of each month and during peak periods in March, April, and September.

Key Responsibilities

  • End-to-end management of the monthly payroll process for approximately 75 senior employees using Pegasus Opera 3.
  • Data entry, final BACS submissions, and bank liaison throughout the payroll cycle.
  • Handling all RTI submissions to HMRC, year‑end processing, and ensuring Auto‑Enrolment compliance for the defined contribution pension scheme.
  • Accurate calculation and processing of SSP, SMP, SPP, and sickness/holiday pay.
  • Managing starters and leavers, including timely issuance of P45s.
  • Preparing detailed monthly payroll journals for the Finance Manager and resolving payroll queries with professionalism.
  • Maintaining the highest standard of confidentiality for sensitive executive data.

Requirements

  • Experience running accurate, timely payroll, ideally within a corporate environment.
  • Deep knowledge of UK PAYE, NIC, and current HMRC regulations.
  • Strong Excel skills and experience with payroll software; specific experience with Pegasus Opera 3 is a significant advantage.
  • Understanding of BIK and experience in payrolling benefits is beneficial.
  • Exceptional numerical accuracy and an uncompromising eye for detail.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
  • A proactive approach to meeting strict monthly deadlines while working part‑time.
