Job Description

Next is a well‑known UK retailer with a strong online presence. We\'re proud to design and manufacture stylish, comfortable sofas. Since opening in 2016 with a single production line, we\'ve grown to a team of 200 employees operating 14 production lines. We\'re leading the way in modern British manufacturing from our base in Armthorpe, Doncaster.

We are expanding our Design and Development function as our product lines continue to grow. We have an exciting opportunity for a Development Upholsterer to work alongside our Design & Development Coordinators to develop prototypes in line with new designs and shapes, using standard upholstery techniques with fabrics.

Who We’re Looking For

As part of a dedicated, highly skilled team, you will either be currently working as a Development Upholsterer or have extensive upholstery experience across a range of sofa shapes and be looking to progress into a Development role. In all cases, we are looking for candidates who have excellent working knowledge of upholstery production techniques and are able to interpret drawings and create fabric patterns. By liaising with our development team the Development Upholsterer will guide projects from inception to the final product.

You will be a true perfectionist when it comes to maintaining high quality standards, having a keen eye for detail and being a team player who is fully committed to delivering products “right first time”. You will enjoy working in a fast paced, varied environment and taking great pride in knowing that your knowledge and experience has shaped the finished product.

What’s Next?

If your application is successful, you will be invited to take part in an interview and practical assessment. To help give you the best start in our Manufacturing Team, we\'ll give you an extensive induction featuring in‑depth training sessions. We will provide ongoing coaching and support designed to give you all the information you need to succeed in your new role.
