Transport Team Managers at NEXT work closely with the Transport Assistant Site Manager to ensure the fast-paced and time-critical transport operation runs smoothly, accurately, and cost-effectively. The Bristol Regional Service Centre plays a pivotal role ensuring that stores in the South West and Wales are stocked and our online customers receive the service they expect from the brand. It’s fast paced, varied, and challenging, and we’re looking for a talented and dynamic first line transport manager to join our team.
What You’ll Take On
- Ensure that the team on shift is well organised, trained, and motivated to deliver the operational efficiency targets and that all processes are fully H&S compliant.
- Manage, train and coach a team of Drivers (LGV and Van).
- Manage Driver hours and control tachograph infringements.
- Ensure full adherence to statutory road transport legislation, O-licence requirements, and Company policies and procedures.
- Create daily and weekly plans to achieve targets and monitor performance.
- Monitor and investigate accidents and incidents, identifying root cause and implementing recommendations.
What You’ll Bring
The Transport department at Next is a fast paced 24 hour operation and so there will often be a need for you to act independently and to think on your feet. You will demonstrate the ability to manage changing priorities, work well under pressure, and make sound, operational decisions. Along with proven people management skills, you must have experience of working in a busy transport function, demonstrating solid knowledge of road transport legislation, O-licence requirements, and Driver hours. Your expertise is valued and as a Transport Team Manager, you will need to search out solutions, drawing upon your previous transport management experience to lead the team.
