Role Purpose: We are recruiting for a passionate and enthusiastic Design Assistant to join our in-house Design team. Working in a varied and forward-thinking department, we are looking for someone who can add innovative ideas and enthusiasm into design processes and strategy. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to develop their talent within the fashion industry. You will work closely with a creative and talented Senior Designer who will strongly support your development and provide the opportunity to grow your experience across product development.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the Design Team across all product categories
  • Maintaining and updating documentation, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail
  • Assisting with the preparation for sign off meetings; organising samples and updating CAD sheets
  • Managing daily tasks in line with critical path
  • Creating and amending CADs in Photoshop and Illustrator, as well as print designs/recolours
  • Liaising with Buying, Garment Tech, Suppliers & Factories
  • Researching relevant trends for shape, print and colour in keeping with the brand
  • Creating competitor shop reports, trend flashes and key items
  • Keeping up to date with the latest trends via shops, catwalks and social media, to provide insight and recommendations to the team
  • Providing consistent and quality admin support to the team
  • Assisting in the preparation for photo shoots and attending photoshoots as hands-on support where necessary
  • Management of lab dips and bulk approvals alongside Buying team
  • Assisting designers in development of design briefs and spec packs
  • Fabric and trim shopping for in-house atelier to ensure efficient running of pattern room
  • Continually aiming to develop yourself, asking your Line Manager for support and guidance
  • Completing any other duties as reasonably requested by the company to ensure the continuous development of the business
  • Working to your own initiative and be able to take responsibility when required by the team

Role Requirements:

  • Fashion design related degree or equivalent industry experience within fashion retail
  • Strong Photoshop and Illustrator skills
  • Ability to translate trends into a commercial way for the customer
  • Previous experience working in a fast-paced environment
  • Indesign and hand sketching skills
  • Adept in technical drawings
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Great organisation skills and the ability to adjust to changes and work flexibly
  • Able to multitask whilst producing high quality output and meeting deadlines
  • Demonstrate a can-do attitude and resilience
  • Self-motivated and eager to learn
