We are seeking an experienced SAP MDG Architect to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of master data governance and data migration solutions within complex SAP environments. This role combines technical leadership, solution architecture, and stakeholder engagement to deliver scalable data management capabilities that support enterprise transformation initiatives. The successful candidate will have extensive experience with SAP Master Data Governance (MDG), SAP S/4HANA data migration, and enterprise data governance frameworks. They will work closely with business and technology teams to define strategy, design solutions, and ensure successful delivery across multiple workstreams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Solution Architecture & Leadership
    • Lead the design and architecture of SAP MDG and data migration solutions aligned to business and technical requirements.
    • Define data models, workflows, validation rules, governance processes, and integration approaches.
    • Provide technical leadership and guidance to project teams, including consultants, developers, and analysts.
    • Establish standards, best practices, and architectural principles for master data management initiatives.
  • Stakeholder Engagement
    • Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to understand data governance, data quality, and master data requirements.
    • Translate business requirements into solution designs and technical specifications.
    • Support decision-making through recommendations based on industry best practices and SAP capabilities.
  • Implementation & Integration
    • Oversee configuration and implementation activities related to SAP MDG and data migration.
    • Define integration approaches between SAP and non-SAP applications using appropriate technologies and interfaces.
    • Ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with enterprise architecture standards.
  • Data Migration & Governance
    • Lead data migration planning and execution activities, including data assessment, cleansing, transformation, validation, and reconciliation.
    • Support the development of governance frameworks that improve data quality and consistency.
    • Drive adoption of master data standards across key business domains.
  • Quality Assurance & Change Enablement
    • Define testing strategies and support quality assurance activities throughout project delivery.
    • Ensure solutions meet both functional and non-functional requirements.
    • Contribute to change management and user adoption initiatives by communicating impacts, benefits, and new processes.
  • Documentation & Knowledge Transfer
    • Create and maintain architecture documentation, design specifications, and governance artefacts.
    • Provide knowledge transfer, training, and guidance to business users and support teams.
    • Promote best practices for ongoing management and maintenance of master data solutions.

Required Experience & Skills

  • Significant experience delivering SAP MDG and SAP S/4HANA data migration programmes.
  • Strong expertise across one or more master data domains such as Material, Customer, Supplier/Vendor, or Finance.
  • Deep understanding of data governance principles, master data management, and data quality frameworks.
  • Experience with SAP integration technologies, APIs, interfaces, and data replication approaches.
  • Knowledge of business processes across areas such as finance, procurement, supply chain, manufacturing, sales, or asset management.
  • Experience defining and executing data migration strategies, including cleansing, transformation, validation, and reconciliation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business requirements into practical solutions.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and leadership capabilities.

Desirable Experience

  • Exposure to large-scale ERP transformation programmes.
  • Familiarity with data quality management tools and methodologies.
  • Experience with SAP-related migration and data management tools.
  • Understanding of emerging technologies, including AI-enabled data management capabilities.
  • Relevant SAP certifications or data management certifications.
