The Credit and Risk Finance team at Head Office provides the financial insight that shapes the future of NEXT Finance. We are looking for a commercially minded Assistant Accountant to join our team. If you enjoy solving problems at the intersection of finance and technology, this role offers the opportunity to make a real difference.
Responsibilities
- Drive Financial Insight: run and evolve the financial models that underpin our balance sheet and P&L, ensuring efficient reporting.
- Modernise Reporting: use SQL and Power BI to build and maintain automated dashboards, moving away from manual processes.
- Support Decision Making: prepare clear KPI analysis for senior leaders to inform business direction.
- Maintain Financial Rigour: support the month‑end process, including balance sheet reconciliations and detailed analysis.
- Future Planning: assist with forecasting and financial appraisals for new credit projects, identifying efficiencies in debt management and supplier costs.
Qualifications
- At least 2 years of experience in a finance or analytical role, and CIMA/ACCA part‑qualified (or equivalent).
- Proficient in SQL and Power BI, advanced Excel skills and experience building financial models.
- Natural curiosity to dissect data to uncover performance drivers.
- Strong communication skills to present analysis with conviction and collaborate with the team.
