Our client has been operating successfully for almost 50 years and is recognised as a leader within the service and installation industry. Due to continued growth, they are looking for a Field Service Engineer to join their team and support customers across the South West.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer to join a professional and supportive organisation, working independently across a varied customer base while being part of a wider team committed to delivering excellent service and technical expertise. The role will cover North Bristol, South Wales, the M5 Corridor towards Gloucester and across to Swindon, so candidates ideally based in or around North Bristol would be well positioned for the region.

The Role
As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for visiting customer sites across your allocated region, carrying out planned preventative maintenance, responding to call-outs and completing fault-finding and remedial works on fire safety systems. You will play an important role in ensuring customers’ systems remain safe, compliant and fully operational, while providing a professional and high level of customer service at every visit.
The role offers plenty of variety, with responsibilities including:
- Completing planned preventative maintenance in line with customer schedules
- Responding to emergency call-outs and unscheduled work within agreed SLAs
- Diagnosing faults and carrying out remedial and modification works
- Completing service worksheets and relevant documentation accurately and in line with BS5839 requirements
- Identifying non-compliances and additional works, providing clear feedback to the Field Services Manager
- Carrying out follow-up visits to ensure remedial works are completed within agreed timescales
- Supporting installation teams where required
- Building strong and professional relationships with customers, suppliers and internal teams
- Ensuring all work is completed safely and in line with company policies and procedures
- Working closely with the QHSE Manager regarding audits, equipment calibration and health and safety requirements
About You
We are looking for a technically capable and customer-focused engineer who enjoys working independently and takes pride in delivering a high standard of work. You will ideally have:
- FIA Foundation qualification
- Strong knowledge of BS5839
- Experience fault finding on fire safety systems
- Experience modifying fire safety system configurations
- Good IT skills
- Strong organisation and time management skills
- A positive, approachable and professional manner
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- A practical, accountable and solutions-focused approach to your work
Further FIA training and development will be encouraged, with opportunities to develop your technical knowledge in advanced and specialist areas.
