Overview
Our client has a global presence and state‑of‑the‑art facilities located near Birmingham. They are looking to hire a Tool Room Operative to join an existing team.
Person Specification
- Experience in all aspects of press and shear tool manufacture, maintenance and fault finding.
- Experience with CNC and manual machine work including surface grinding, milling, turning, fixturing and wire EDM.
- Able to read and understand engineering drawings and work to specified tolerances.
- Well organised, multi-skilled, self‑motivated and professional.
- Good time‑keeping and attendance.
- Responsible for achieving own key objectives, as well as the objectives of the team.
- Able to prioritise workload and meet tight deadlines under pressure.
- Computer literate and able to communicate and record information effectively.
- Attention to detail; accuracy is paramount.
- Able to communicate at all levels and have a "can do" attitude.
- Willing to progress skillset on new equipment and machining methods.
- Must be eligible and able to prove you can work in the UK, as the company does not hold a sponsorship licence.
Responsibilities
- Operate Toolroom equipment to a high standard.
- Operate a forklift truck and overhead crane to assist with daily duties, while enabling tooling to be delivered to production; training will be provided.
- Ensure manufacturing is covered in a timely manner so that try‑out dates are met.
- Ensure breakdowns are covered in a timely manner so production downtime is kept to a minimum.
- Aim for a "right first time" approach to all work carried out.
- Liaise with contractors/suppliers where required and, when additional support is needed, agree timescales and costs.
- Maintain awareness and ensure full compliance with H&S legislation, housekeeping standards and company rules and procedures.
- Follow verbal and written instructions and work to set out procedures.
- Seek continuous improvement related to the business KPIs and, as part of the team, contribute to improved performance and overall improvement of the business.
- Hours of Work
Monday to Thursday: 7:30am to 4:00pm with a half‑hour lunch break each day. Friday: 7:30am to 12:30pm with no lunch break. Total 37 hours per week.
