Senior Media Planner, Agency, West Midlands, up to £60,000, Hybrid Working
An established, independent agency based in the West Midlands is looking for an experienced media planning professional to join its team.
Working with a diverse portfolio of clients, the agency combines strategic thinking, data-driven insight and hands-on media expertise to deliver impactful campaigns. This is an opportunity to take ownership of major international brand accounts, working as a trusted partner to the clients and collaborating with teams across multiple channels to deliver effective, measurable media activity.
With a strong emphasis on collaboration, attention to detail and commercial performance, the agency offers the opportunity to work on substantial media budgets and campaigns that extend well beyond the traditional remit of a regional agency.
Description
This is a key role within the agency, with responsibility for leading the day-to-day media planning and delivery for major international clients with a significant UK presence.
Acting as the central point of contact for the client, you will bring together multiple media specialists, ensuring campaigns are strategically aligned, budgets are allocated effectively and performance is continually reviewed. You'll combine high-level planning with a hands-on approach, confidently moving between the bigger picture and the finer details of campaign delivery.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading the day-to-day client relationship, building strong partnerships and acting as a trusted adviser on media strategy, planning and performance.
- Developing integrated, multi-channel media plans, with particular emphasis on TV advertising and its role within the wider media mix.
- Taking ownership of substantial media budgets, allocating investment across TV, video on demand, programmatic, paid search, paid social and other relevant channels.
- Leading TV media planning and buying, ensuring activity is strategically aligned, efficiently delivered and commercially effective.
- Bringing together channel specialists to deliver cohesive campaigns, ensuring all activity works together to achieve the client's objectives.
- Using audience segmentation, consumer insights and data analysis to inform channel selection, media investment and campaign optimisation.
- Overseeing campaign reporting and performance reviews, translating complex data into clear, actionable insights for the client.
- Maintaining a detailed understanding of campaign performance, budgets, media bookings and purchasing processes, with the ability to access and interpret data quickly when required.
- Leading the annual media audit process, coordinating the agency's response, reviewing performance against objectives and helping establish targets and priorities for the following year.
- Working closely with the client's head office and UK team to ensure alignment across international stakeholders.
- Contributing to media planning and delivery across other agency accounts, providing variety alongside the core client responsibility.
Experience
We're looking for a commercially minded, data-driven media professional who enjoys combining strategic thinking with hands‑on campaign management.
You'll ideally bring:
- Strong experience in TV advertising planning and buying. This is essential; we're looking for someone with genuine experience of TV media, rather than a predominantly digital media background.
- Broad, multi-channel media knowledge, including an understanding of how TV, video on demand, programmatic, paid search and paid social work together.
- Experience managing significant media budgets and making informed decisions about channel investment and allocation.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interrogate data, interpret campaign performance and turn insight into practical recommendations.
- Excellent attention to detail and the confidence to get into the finer points of campaign delivery, reporting, media bookings and purchase orders.
- The ability to manage multiple workstreams, coordinate specialist teams and maintain oversight of complex campaigns.
- Strong client relationship skills, with the confidence to communicate with senior stakeholders and build trusted, collaborative partnerships.
- A proactive, organised approach and the ability to respond quickly to detailed client requests without losing sight of the wider strategy.
Experience working with large, international brands or across European markets would be advantageous, particularly if you're comfortable collaborating with overseas teams.
Remuneration
- Location: West Midlands
- Working arrangements: Hybrid. There's flexibility for less frequent office attendance, provided you're available when the role and client require it.
If you're looking for a role where you can combine strategic media planning with hands‑on delivery, take ownership of substantial budgets and work closely with a major international brand, this is an opportunity worth exploring.
You'll have the autonomy to shape media investment, the support of specialist colleagues across multiple channels and the opportunity to make a tangible impact on high-profile accounts.
