Next Generation are currently recruiting for a Band Saw Operator to work with a global leading manufacturer based near Halesowen. As the Band Saw Operator you will be responsible for setting and operating Band Saws in a safe and effective manner whilst also being able to move material around the plant via a Cab Crane.
Duties of the Band Saw Operator:
- Operating bandsaw
- The heat shrink wrapping or banding of goods to pallet after sawing
- Loading and unloading of vehicles via forklift or pendant crane
- General cleaning, tidying and improvement of the state of the department
- Ensuring material is safely stored in stock
- Using forklift to deliver / collect material to / from other departments
- Removal of swarf from each saw every day and cleaning of any leaks/spills
- Ensuring any sawn bars are marked with internal number and returned to stock
- Inspection and marking of incoming material
- Work as a team with saw other operators
- Work to assist other departments where possible
- Adhere to health and safety methods and procedures
- Perform stocktake of all material when required
The successful candidate for the Band Saw Operator position will have the following experience:
- 3 – 5 years’ experience working as a Band Saw Operator (Essential)
- Operating Cab Crane (Desirable)
- Ability to effectively measure material minimising material wastage (Essential)
- Carrying out daily machine checks (Desirable)
- Experience of cutting all varying grades of metals from carbon steels to super duplex materials (Desirable)
- Understanding & capability of fulfilling all manual handling requirements
