Due to continued growth, Next Generation are recruiting for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to work with a well-established engineering company based in Willenhall who specialise in precision engineering for the Aerospace Industry. As the Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for the end-to-end manufacturing process, from initial concept (Design) through to process planning, document control and programming for the shop floor. The successful candidate will be required to offline program for both machining centres and lathes whilst continually looking into ways to improve machining processes.
Duties of the Senior Manufacturing Engineer:
- To plan and design the manufacturing process from start to finish from a continuous improvement perspective and reduction of waste.
- Produce accurate stage drawings, detailed documentation, set up packs, SOPs etc.
- To support the quotation process with lead-times and costs.
- Support heavily with new product introduction (NPI) projects and heavily support operators at the machinery.
- Closely support the production team by generating offline programs for CNC milling and turning machines including 3, 4 and 5 axis to fulfil customer demands.
- Assist and direct the prove-out process for NPI projects including CAD/CAM programs on the machines where required to guarantee first-time quality and production readiness.
- Support the quality department with PFMEA.
- Support machining technicians with daily problem solving, implementing permanent corrective actions.
- Assist with designing and selecting tooling and fixtures to aid process improvements enhancing machining capabilities.
- Produce accurate set up sheets and tooling logs to support consistent machine setup.
- To assist the Project Director with the successful implementation of projects advising on areas for improvements.
- Lead technical discussions with suppliers and customers delivering engineering solutions.
The successful candidate for the Senior Manufacturing Engineer position will have the following experience:
- 3 - 5 years experience working as a Manufacturing Engineer within a precision CNC Environment (Essential)
- In-depth knowledge of manufacturing and production processes (Essential)
- Ability to write and deliver SOPs (Essential)
- Experience within heavy engineering (Desirable)
