Due to continued growth, Next Generation are currently recruiting for a Metallurgist to work with a well-established engineering company based near Halesowen. As the Metallurgist, you will be responsible for providing technical support to customers whilst conducting routine testing and failure investigations.
Duties of Metallurgist:
- Process control Forge & Heat Treatment
- Investigate mechanical test failures and produce rework plans
- Monitor failure trends and implement corrective/preventative actions
- Perform technical contract reviews, including the creation of heat treatment and forging procedures
- Provide customers with technical support
- Material selection for optimal properties
- Selection of heat treatment processes and parameters
- Provide technical training to cross-functional departments
- Carrying out metallography for routine testing and investigations
- Support Quality department with reviewing SOPs & non-conformances
The successful candidate for the Metallurgist position will have the following experience:
- A degree or equivalent within materials engineering (Desirable)
- 3 - 5 years working as a Metallurgist (Essential)
- Metallographic preparation and analysis (Desirable)
