As a Vice President in the EMEA FIG Insurance coverage team, you will lead day‑to‑day execution on live transactions and play a key role in client coverage and origination. You will manage analysts and associates, partner closely with senior bankers, and collaborate with cross‑border colleagues and product teams (M&A, ECM, DCM, LevFin, Ratings/Credit) to deliver best‑in‑class advice.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the origination and execution of complex M&A and capital markets transactions for insurance clients (buyside, sellside, carveouts, take privates, portfolio/asset sales; where relevant, reinsurance and balance sheet optimization solutions).
- Oversee and review financial analysis, valuation and modelling (DCF, trading and transaction comps, merger models, LBOs, accretion/dilution) ensuring analytical rigor and accuracy; guide teams through large and complex valuation exercises.
- Develop and present strategic advice and materials to clients, including board level executives; contribute to idea generation and pipeline development aligned to EMEA insurance sector themes and market dynamics.
- Coordinate workstreams with internal product partners and external advisers (legal, accounting and other diligence providers) across jurisdictions; manage due diligence, documentation and negotiations from pitch to close.
- Drive marketing initiatives, pitches and thought leadership tailored to insurance regulatory and market developments; keep abreast of key market and regulatory changes and translate insights into client recommendations and opportunities.
- Mentor and develop junior team members; set quality standards, provide training and feedback; support recruiting and foster a collaborative team culture.
- Ensure high quality deliverables, strong client relationships and adherence to internal risk, conduct and compliance requirements; uphold and enhance the franchise’s reputation in the marketplace.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills
- Significant Investment Banking experience with a strong track record in Financial Institutions, ideally with meaningful exposure to the Insurance sector across products and transaction types.
- Proven project leadership and process management skills; ability to run multiple cross‑border transactions under tight timelines and manage senior client and adviser interactions effectively.
- Advanced quantitative and analytical abilities, including expert Excel modelling and valuation; proficient in building and reviewing detailed financial models and complex analyses for live transactions and strategic dialogue.
- Demonstrated origination contribution (idea generation, relationship development, pitch leadership) and an ability to convert opportunities into mandates; strong communication and client engagement skills.
- Proactive ownership mindset; highly organized, detail oriented and decisive; excellent technology skills with superior Excel and PowerPoint, and ability to quickly learn new applications.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required; advanced degree a plus.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills
- Additional European language skills to support cross‑border execution and client engagement across EMEA.
- Experience working with financial sponsors and insurance focused investors active in EMEA; familiarity with regulatory frameworks and diligence topics specific to insurance (e.g., Solvency II, reinsurance structures, capital optimization).
