As our business continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced Mechanical Manager to lead the delivery of heating and renewable technology projects across a number of key contracts, including major social housing and local authority programmes.

About the Role
Reporting to the Senior Contracts Manager / Head of Operations, you will take ownership of all mechanical workstreams across our contracts, ensuring safe, compliant and high-quality delivery.
You'll lead teams delivering:
Gas boiler installations and heating upgrades
Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP) installations
Hot water systems
Heating controls and associated upgrades
Future low-carbon heating technologies
You will play a key role in supporting contract mobilisation, operational performance and continued business growth.

Main Responsibilities
Oversee the day-to-day delivery of mechanical works across assigned contracts, including gas heating, ASHPs, ventilation, hot water systems, and associated heating upgrades.
Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineers, supervisors, apprentices, and subcontractors, ensuring works are delivered in accordance with specifications, manufacturer requirements, and industry standards.
Ensure all gas and mechanical works comply with relevant legislation, regulations, PAS 2030/2035, Gas Safe, MCS, Building Regulations, and other applicable requirements.
Manage and monitor the performance, workload, and resource requirements of mechanical engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors to support programme delivery.
Review technical surveys, designs, installation requirements, and completed works, identifying and addressing quality issues, defects, and remedial requirements.
Conduct or support site inspections, technical audits, and quality checks to maintain high standards of workmanship and reduce defects.
Support the mobilisation of new contracts and mechanical workstreams, including establishing delivery processes, resources, supply chains, and technical requirements.
Work closely with Contract and Operations Managers to monitor programme performance, client KPIs, productivity, customer satisfaction, and delivery risks.
Maintain effective relationships with clients, manufacturers, subcontractors, and other key stakeholders, providing technical and operational support where required.
Promote a strong culture of health, safety, quality, compliance, and continuous improvement across all mechanical operations.
What well need from you
Minimum 5 years' experience within domestic heating, mechanical installation, or a related operational environment, including experience managing heating programmes or teams.
Strong technical knowledge of domestic gas heating systems and associated compliance requirements.
Proven experience of delivering or managing Air Source Heat Pump and low-carbon heating installations.
Experience working within social housing, local authority, retrofit, or similar contract environments.
Current or recent Gas Safe registration with relevant domestic qualifications, including CCN1 and CENWAT.
NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing & Heating or an equivalent recognised qualification.
Strong leadership, people management, planning, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and delivery teams.
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across operational areas as required.
