Conduct Risk Specialist – Growing UK and Europe project insurer. This is a new role that you can own and develop to make your own. Working within Compliance, you will be responsible for establishing and embedding a robust Conduct Risk Framework across the UK and EU. You will work closely with Underwriting, Claims, Due Diligence, Operations, and Delegated Authority Audit to identify, assess, mitigate, and monitor conduct risks arising from the business and operating model. As this is a project-based insurer, you will also work with a number of MGAs and TPAs, so your ability to manage internal and external relationships to a positive outcome is paramount. You will play a critical part in ensuring that the business meets conduct-related regulatory expectations where business is conducted.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as a key point of contact with the FCA on conduct-related matters, including supervision, thematic reviews, and information requests.
  • Own, design and continuously improve the Conduct Risk Framework for the UK and Europe Business.
  • Develop and deliver solutions that support the business in mitigating conduct risks and resolving related issues in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate conduct cross-functional feedback cycles throughout the product lifecycle and escalate critical conduct insights to support business decisions.
  • Partner with Delegated Audit as a subject matter expert to ensure MGA adherence to conduct standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure accurate and timely conduct-related information for regulatory submissions, board reporting, and risk assessments.
  • Execute thematic reviews and business risk assessment of emerging conduct risks.
  • Engage proactively with relevant stakeholders to address and escalate findings.
  • Organise conduct training and provide mentorship for internal partners to embed competence in conduct regulatory matters.
  • Act as a reference point on conduct matters to business leadership.
  • Provide expert challenge to business decisions where customer harm or regulatory breach risks are present.
  • Maintain awareness of regulatory trends, publications, and enforcement actions to ensure anticipatory compliance.
  • Lead horizon scanning for emerging conduct risks across the insurance value chain.
  • Lead on ensuring robust governance on POG arrangements and provide leadership support to the POG Chair, ensuring compliance oversight and governance procedures are effectively applied.
  • Oversee the Complaints Function for the UK and Europe, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

YOU WILL NEED:

  • Comprehensive understanding of UK and Europe conduct regulatory frameworks pertaining to insurance.
  • Pragmatic, solution-oriented approach.
  • Ability to challenge constructively while maintaining strong relationships.
  • Strong working knowledge of Consumer Duty, FSCS, IDD, Conduct Rule Book, and POG frameworks.
  • Knowledge of EUR regulations and insight into MFSA practices.
  • Experience of leading a Complaints Function.
  • Proven track record in managing Conduct oversight and regulatory relationships.
